Uzbekistan President Islam Karimov is not well, the Uzbek government said in a statement published by the official newspaper, Narodnoye Slovo, on Friday.
From the past 24 hours, the health of Mr. Karimov (78) is sharply getting worse, statement said.
“The doctors assess [his health] as critical,” the statement added.
From Last Saturday he is in hospital as he is suffering from a stroke problem.
On Friday, he will not reach to the office for comment. Moreover, government spokesman refused to comment on his travel plans.
Karimov has ruled Uzbekistan, a major cotton exporter also rich in gold and natural gas, in an authoritarian style since 1989, first as a Communist leader, and then as president from 1991.
