Police Rescued Woman Locked In Dark Room By Family, From Last 20 Years


In a stunning incident, a lady, as of now in her 50’s, was on Wednesday found to be “locked” in a room in her parents’ home throughout the previous twenty years for her ‘abnormal conduct’ in Candolim town close here, the police said.

The lady, confined in a dark room which has been her world throughout the previous two decades, was saved after a NGO told the police.

“The lady was locked in a dark room of her parents’ home presently involved by her two siblings and their relatives. She was being served food and water through a window,” a senior police official said.
A group from the Women’s Police Station raided the house on the data given by the NGO ‘Bailancho Saad’.
The authority said the NGO came to know about the lady through an email sent to them by a man who asserted to have seen the lady.
“At the point when the police group went into the room, they found that the lady was naked and was hesitant to move out of the room which is situated on the backside of her parent’s home,” the authority stated, including she was locked in dark room for just about 20 years.
Refering to her family , the authority said the lady was briefly hitched to a man from Mumbai, however returned home not long after in the wake of finding that he was at that point wedded.
“Her family locked her in the room after she began carrying on strangely after her arrival from Mumbai,” the authority said.
The lady was taken for medical treatment by the police.
“We are yet to capture anybody for this situation. The examination is still at essential stage. The statement of family members of the lady is being recorded,” he said.
