New Delhi : Uttar Pradesh police on Friday denied permission to both Samajwadi Party leaders to carry out ‘Sadbhavana March’ and Muzaffarnagar riots accused Sangeet Som’s ‘Nirbhay Yatra’ from Sardhana to Kairana in Uttar Pradesh.
On Wednesday, Sangeet Som had announced about taking out the ‘Nirbhay Yatra’ from Sardhana to Kairana to instill confidence for the people who are not feeling safe in the area.
Meanwhile, section 44 has been imposed in Sardhana and Kairana.
While Samajwadi Party leader Atul Pradhan on Thursday announced that to carry out a ‘Sadhbhana Yatra’ from Sardhana to Kairana to counter Som’s “Nirbhay Yatra”.
On Tuesday, the alleged migration of Hindus from Kairana in western Uttar Pradesh, local BJP MP Hukum Singh claimed the number of families that had to flee can go up to 400-500 even as Shamli District Magistrate Sujeet Kumar said some people left the town not because of “communal activity” but for “economic reasons”.
UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Monday accused BJP leaders of being “dishonest” and “lying” on the issue and said he would like to see “better work” from the party.
“BJP is alleging that the Samajwadi Party government forced the people to flee from Kairana… BJP can be dishonest to this extent,” Akhilesh had said.
