GUWAHATI: In context with ongoing flood situation, PM Narendra Modi visited Guwahati on Tuesday to review the situation in Assam.
Governor Banwarilal Purohit and chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal escorted Prime Minister at the Lokopriyo Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport on Tuesday.
Later, he was taken to the Veterinary College Ground from helicopter at Khanapara.
From Veterinary College Ground, The Prime Minister was taken to the close Assam Administrative Staff College to conduct review meetings in Assam.
As per the official sources, cabinet colleagues, senior state government officials and the Prime Minister analyzed the flood situation and infrastructural damage.
Narendra Modi would conduct a meeting with BJP, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and the Bodo Peoples’ Front. He will also carry out a meeting with Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Nagaland and Assam CM.
On Monday, State finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that the PM’s visit was meant at coming out with a conclusion to the flood problem in Assam.
On Monday, the Centre declared reward of Rs 2 lakh each for the kins of those lost lives and Rs 50,000 each for those wounded in Assam floods.
