PM Narendra Modi has taken initiative to come up with a irrigation scheme “SAUNI Yojana” in Gujarat. He will visit his home town on August 30. The project was initiated by him in 2012 when he was Chief Minister of Gujarat.
“Looking forward to being in Gujarat today for the launch of SAUNI Yojana. This scheme will truly benefit the people of Gujarat,” Modi tweeted.
The scheme was initiated by PM Modi in September 2012. SAUNI is considered as “Saurashtra Narmada Avtaran Irrigation.”
The water will reach from Sardar Sarovar Dam to several dams of the water scarce Saurasthra region through a network of canal and pipelines.
This project will benefit around 4.13 lakh hectares of land in drought prone Saurashtra.
