But the council members decided that on the basis of suggestions received from the public, the road should be renamed Lok Kalyan Marg,” the Delhi CM said.
“We had received recommendations from the Sikh community and the decision was taken,” Mr Kejriwal said.

"After my proposal to rename Race Course Road as Ekatma Marg was generally reported, I got calls from individuals the nation over. They proposed renaming it as Lok Kalyan, which implies the same as Ekatma and the words are basic. In any case, Mr Kejriwal is attempting to assume the praise," the MP said.
She said Mr. Kejriwal, peering toward the Punjab races, needed it to be renamed Guru Gobind Singh Marg and requested Mr. Modi's proposals as the PM had assigned Rs. 100 crore for the birth centennial of the Sikh Guru.
"I educated them in the meeting that a street by the same name is now there in Delhi close Malviya Nagar and it is impossible. At that point Mr Kejriwal recommended that let the PM choose. Yet, majority rule government works under law. The ability to rename street rests with NDMC and even the PM can't transform it," she said.
A year ago, according to NDMC records, it was on Ms. Lekhi's suggestion that Aurangzeb Road was renamed Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Road.
NDMC administrator Naresh Kumar said it was a consistent choice to change the name of Race Course Road to Lok Kalyan Marg.
