Anushka Sharma’s second home production Phillaurihas managed to gather Rs 4.2 crore on day one. The film, co-produced by the 28-year-old on-screen character and her sibling Karnesh Sharma, has especially done well in North India. As per trade analyst Taran Adarsh, Phillauri is doing extremely well in North India. Mr. Adarsh tweeted: “#Phillauri is best in North, ordinary elsewhere. Fri 4.02 cr. India business. Needs SOLID numbers on SatSun to register STRONG wknd total.” according to one of a news agency reports, North India has contributed 52% of the total collection.

Phillauri additionally includes Diljit Dosanjh and Suraj Sharma in lead parts. In the film, Suraj Sharma, who portrays the part of a NRI, gets married to a tree as he is a ‘maanglik’. However, a ghost stuck in the tree (Anushka), starts to haunt him. In an earlier statement to a news agency, Fox Star Studios stated: “Phillauri, which was made on a budget of Rs 21 crore, made a pre-release business of Rs 12 crore from its satellite and music rights.”
“Phillauri is a high concept film with a major heart and we are happy with the start that it has had on day one. The film has good word of mouth and it will grow today. It is a fun, family entertainer and a perfect weekend watch for audiences over all age-groups,” Producers Vijay Singh, CEO, Fox Star Studios and Karnesh Sharma of Clean Slate Films said in an announcement to a news agency.
Phillauri marks Anshai Lal’s debut as a director. A special screening of the film was organized for Bollywood on Wednesday. Stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Alia, Sidharth Malhotra went to the screening and were all praises for the Sultan actress.
Phillauri clashed in the cinematic world with Swara Bhaskar’s Anaarkali of Aarah and Hollywood film Chip.
