Peru: Nearly 48 people lost their lives after a bus plunges onto a rocky beach on Tuesday, Peruvian police and fire authorities affirmed.
There were about 57 people in the bus at the time of accident, reports said.
After the accident, a police helicopter reached to the spot to evacuate people whereas some managed to save their lives with the support of ropes.
The Navy also hurled patrol boat to help the rescuers making attempts to get one and all out ahead of the tide increase.
As per the reports nearly six people were declared to have stayed alive.
The accident occurred on a coastal highway about 45 kilometers north of the capital Lima, Escudero asserted.
The Pasamayo highway on which the accident took place is only utilized by trucks and buses.
It has not been finalized whether the driver had been died or wounded. Over 2,500 people lost their lives in traffic mishaps in Peru two years back, reports said.
