Patna: On Tuesday eleven people killed and six others critically wounded when the autorickshaw they were riding in crashed head-on with a bus at about 9 am close to Purani Bazaar under Sarai police station area in Vaishali district of the state.
Bhagwanpur circle officer (CO) Veena Kumari has also conveyed that all the departed belonged to Korigaon village. All the nine died on the spot. They were recognized as Mohammad Sattar, Shakeela Begum, Yashomati Devi, Gyan Prakash, Manju Devi, Sanjay Kumar Singh, Lakindra Rai, Parmila Devi and Rajmahli Devi.
The CO further conveyed that, one of the wounded, Brijnandan Pandit, died in the hospital whereas a six-month-old boy, who also succumbed to his grievance was yet not recognized. Sarai SHO Raman Kumar further conveyed that the private bus was coming from Hajipur to Muzaffarpur whereas the autorickshaw was traveling to Hajipur from Garaul.
The SHO further added that, the speeding bus was passing through the busy market on NH-77 when the autorickshaw collided. The bus driver fled from the spot. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and RJD chief Lalu Prasad uttered their condolences over the tragic mishap.
The CM also declares ex gratia of Rs 4 lakh to each departed. The district government would bear the expense of treatment of the wounded. Veena Kumari further added that, the cheque for Rs 4 lakh as ex gratia was handed over to the family members of each died on the spot.
