Passport centre to come up in Jaisalmer soon


JAISALMER: A new passport centre will unveil in Jaisalmer this month for the localites of western Rajasthan.

The information was given by Union external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj in a letter to Jaisalmer-Barmer MP Col Sonaram Mrghwal. She confirmed that the passport centre will come up soon for the people.

Earlier, the people of Barmer and Jaisalmer had to go Jodhpur to get their passport but now their demand will soon be fulfilled as external affairs ministry has given permission.

Swaraj confirmed in a letter about the establishment of a new passport centre with postal department in Jaisalmer. The formalities have been finished and the centre is likely to start function from this month.

On February 16, Swaraj had declared to open five passport centres in the state including Jaisalmer.
