Pakistani woman burns daughter for marrying her love

Pakistan: A woman from Pakistan was arrested on Wednesday for drenching kerosene on her daughter and burning alive. The girl wanted to marry a man she was in love with.

The killing took place in the eastern city of Lahore, the country’s cultural hub, police official Sheikh Hamma said. Mother was arrested the same day when the incident happened.

An 18 year old daughter Zeenat Rafiq was tied to cot after which with the help of her son, Ahmar Rafiq, she poured the oil on the girl and set her ablaze, Hammad said.

Every year around 1000 women are killed in so called “ honour killings” in Pakistan for allegedly violating conservative norms on love and marriage.
