Pakistan: Six died, 150 injured in train collision


LAHORE: Nearly six people were died and 150 others wounded as two trains collided near Multan in Pakistan’s Punjab Province.

The incident happened near Bucch railway station in Sher Shah area.

“It occurred when a man reportedly was overrun by a freight train and the driver stopped it to take out the body”, said police official Nadir Chattha.

The name of the train was Awam Express which collided with the stationary goods train. The four bogies of Awam Express got overturned, he added.

Nearly six people killed and around 150 wounded in a train accident. Around 10 people are in serious condition, Geo News reported.

After the incident, three people were saved by rescue operators.

According to sources, Delay was initially observed in response by rescue services due to Eid holidays. Relief works were also affected as darkness prevailed in the vicinity.

The train was going to Karachi from Peshawar. The injured were admitted to Nishtar Medical Hospital and Shahbaz Sharif Hospital.

The investigations had been ordered by the railway authorities.
