NEW DELHI: If u are OnePlus users there is good news for you. There is another another reason to rejoice. The Chinese smartphone maker has decided to ditch its much criticized invite system for its upcoming flagship, the OnePlus 3. "We're releasing the OnePlus 3 invite-free , right from launch day. In addition, invites are gone forever from future OnePlus product launches," said co-founder Carl Pei .OnePlus 3 will be officially launched on June 14. Open sales for the smartphone will begin on OnePlus.net website at 3PM Eastern Time.
The company doesn't wish to follow the likes of Xiaomi and go the flash sale route either. "The invite system has a special place in our history. When we first started out, our team was incredibly small. We had no idea what the demand of the OnePlus One would look like. We also weren't fans of flash sales, where there's a risk of everything selling out immediately, forcing fans to wait indefinitely.
To address this, we designed the invite system to give customers a chance to purchase a phone as soon as we had inventory ready," explained Pei. Pei further added that it's a big step for the company to ditch the invite system. "We're proud to have reached a point where we feel confident in making our new device available without invites from day one," he said.
The upcoming smartphone will come with a 5.5-inch Full HD display.a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 64GB of in-built storage and NFC connectivity. It is also rumoured to sport a 16MP front-facing camera, Other rumoured specifications include a USB Type-C port, 4GB or 6GB of RAM and a fingerprint sensor.
