Previous Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had to spend two hours at the air terminal upon his landing in New York as US powers subjected him to "random secondary immigration check".

But 46-year-old Omar Abdullah took it sportingly and said this happens every time he visited the US.

He likewise said the irregular checks are growing "tiresome now". In a progression of tweets from the air terminal, Mr Omar said that he was subjected to another "random" secondary immigration check after arriving in the US.

"Thrice in three visits, the randomness is growing tiresome now," he said.

"I just spent TWO hours in a holding area and this happens EVERY time. Unlike to @iamsrk I don't even catch Pokemon to take a break," he said.

Mr Omar is in New York to talk at an occasion organised by the New York University.

He tweeted "I'm here to talk at an occasion organised by NYU yet I almost wish I'd stayed at home. Ok well, that is two hours well and truly wasted!!"
