Odisha Police declare 8 servitors as absconders, Poster released


Bhubaneswar: Odisha Police declare 8 servitors, who are on the run, as absconders, issues posters with photos. This was informed by the Puri SP Sarthak Sarangi. Posters bearing the photographs of the accused sevayats have been issued, the SP said.

Servitors Damodar Mahasuara, Jayakrushna Mahasuara, Saina Khuntia, Bhimsen Palankadhari, Ipsit Pratihari, Rabi Dash, Kashinath Khuntia and Bhagirathi Khuntia have been declared as absconders, police said. 

On the other hand police arrested 2 more servitors- Brundaban Pujapanda and Surya Narayan Pujapanda- arrested for misbehaving with collector.

It should be noted that trouble erupted at the Sri Jagannath Temple on Sunday night after despite a ban by the administration to allow devotees atop chariot, some women members of sevayats' families were allowed on Taladhwaja of Lord Balabhadra. Some others were later seen on the Nandighosh of Lord Jagannath. As the Puri Collector Arvind Agrawal protested such act of the sevayats, a group of them started using foul language to him and soon started threatening the Collector.
