Odisha Assembly passes three Bills, adjourned for the day

Amid continued din created by the opposition Congress and BJP members over the Chief Minister’s statement on the Mahanadi issue, the Odisha Assembly on Monday passed three bills within 15 minutes without any debate.

Odisha Municipal Corporation (Amendment) Bill-2015, Odisha Gram Panchayat (Amendment) Bill, 2016 and the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Act (Amendment) Bill were passed in the House.

Later,  the House was adjourned for the day by the Speaker. It will sit again on Tuesday. Notably, three bills and two ordinances had been tabled for discussion and their passages in the Assembly on September 23.  

The Orissa Electricity Reform Act (Amendment) Bill, The Orissa Grama Panchayat Act (Amendment) Bill, The Odisha Excise Act (Amendment) Bill and two ordinances, The Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Act (Amendment) Ordinance and Orissa Gram Panchayat Act (Amendment) Ordinance had been tabled in the House.
