Ravi Prasad, her father, said Vinita had gone to her room after dinner. "She usually kept her room closed at night. On Sunday night (early Monday), my wife woke up at 3am and found the doors of Vinita's room open. When she went inside she found her body hanging from the fan," he said. She raised an alarm and Prasad rushed to the room.

The family members brought the body down and informed the police. Blood was oozing from Vinita's nose and face. They rushed her to Kailash Hospital where doctors declared her brought dead.

"The woman had strangulation marks on her neck. She was brought dead to the hospital," said V B Joshi, spokesperson for Kailash Hospital in Noida. Prasad said Vinita had done a fashion designing course from Pearl Academy and worked for two years as fashion merchandiser with a private company. "She later decided to switch from fashion designing to styling. She went to Mumbai in search of a job but returned to Noida some months ago as she was not satisfied with the salary," he said, adding that she had appeared for some job interviews recently.

"She never spoke about being under any stress or facing any trouble. We are very sad about our daughter's passing so suddenly," he said. Amarnath Yadav, SHO Sector 20 police station, said that, prima facie, it seemed she took the extreme step after she failed to get a suitable job. "The body has been sent for postmortem. We have not recovered any suicide note from the spot. We are investigating the case," he said.
