Moradabad: The Moradabad district administration has denied permission to Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi from holding road show in the city on Monday, citing security risk to VIP as the prime reason.
'The route provided by the district Congress committee was rejected due to the various security reasons and since then, no alternate route plan was submitted have at the office of the district magistrate," SSP, Moradabad Nitin Tiwari told media.
"The tall buildings along the route pose a security threat to the VIP. A unanimous decision was taken by the district security committee, SPG officials and the other intelligence officers that the permission for the road show be denied," Tiwari added.
Earlier, the Congress leader who is a Special Protection Group (SPG) protectee was attacked with shoes during his roadshow in Sitapur. Rahul was campaigning for the upcoming UP elections when a man hurled shoes at him.
