The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has introduced the schedule for the upcoming tour between New Zealand and India which will take place in September and October at 9.00 PM.
New Zealand is the first of four teams – England, Australia and Bangladesh are the others. India is all set to host this series. 13 tests, 8 ODI’s and three T20 matches will be played in 2016-17 season.
The match will be played in Kanpur from September 22 followed by the second at Eden Gardens from September 30 and the third in Indore, a brand new Test venue, from October 8.
Five ODIs will be played on October 16 in Dharamsala, October 19 in Delhi, October 23 in Mohali, October 26 in Ranchi and October 29 in Visakhapatnam.
Earlier in April, BCCI president told that , “India would host its first day-night Test during the New Zealand tour. A day later, NZC responded that nothing had been finalised.”
But now, he said that “The board was keen on hosting a Test played with the pink ball under lights against New Zealand. It seems, the board has realized it does not have sufficient time to organize the pink-ball match with its unique demands.”
Moreover, BCCI ofiicials said, Duleep Trophy still remains very significant. "It was said that the Duleep Trophy will be used to get feedback on pink ball. So, it is still important to get the players' feedback for future plans," an official told TOI on Tuesday (June 28), while insisting that a Day-Night Test can't be ruled out of the remaining season at home which will see another 10 Tests to be played.
"A call on having a pink-ball Test can only be taken after the Duleep Trophy. So, one has to wait till then," the source said.
