No cricket with Pakistan until cross border-terrorism finishes: Gautam Gambhir


New Delhi: Feisty Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir has never shied away from speaking his mind.  Gambhir has spoken against any kind of ties between India and Pakistan until the situation between the two nations gets normalised.

The cricketer, in conversation with a news channel, said that he endorses ‘no ties’ between the two nations till the cross-border terrorism from Pakistan doesn’t end. Gambhir’s comments came at a time when India and Pakistan are at loggerheads over the issue of cross-border terrorism by Pakistan-backed militant groups.

In India, there is rising demand by certain groups to cut even the sports and cultural ties with Pakistan. Several right-wing organisations, along with other pressure groups, have called for a ban on movies which feature Pakistan artistes.The demand to ban Pakistan artistes has been made after Indian Army’s successful Surgical strikes along LoC. Indian army, in successful operation, has destroyed 7 terror launchpads and killed around 50 terrorists across LoC.

The strikes were carried out after a cowardly attack by Pakistan-backed militants, which left 19 Indian Army Jawan martyred at a base camp in Jammu & Kashmir’s Uri. BCCI Chief Anurag Thakur has already said that he is not the board will not play any series with Pakistan until the situation is back to normal. “In the context of what has happened even considering such a thought (to play with Pakistan) is not appropriate,” Thakur had said.
