NIA detained six Hyderabad youth for IS links


The National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Hyderabad Police detained 10 youngsters in a joint operation from old City of Hyderabad late on Tuesday night who were all set to join terror outfit Islamic state.

They got in touch with the IS handlers operating from overseas through social networking sites such as Facebook. Reports say that some cash and explosive were also seized from the youngsters. This is the second major operation busted by the police against IS linked Hyderabadi youngsters in the last few months.

The cell was planning multiple attacks in the city, say sources.

Three months ago, a IS module comprising of six persons from Hyderabadi were busted during the nation-wide raids by NIA. The module secures explosive elements and even conducted blast on experimental basis in Narasapur forest of Medak district.

Police is still verifying whether the six Hyderabadi detained last night are linked to Old module.

The operation is still going on when reports last came in.
