Nearly six dead, Six Missing as Typhoon Meranti hits China


Typhoon Meranti hit China from last one week. In the storm, nearly six people got died and many others were injured.

On Thursday afternoon, one people were killed and another injured in Taiwan. The death toll has reached to 3 while four people are missing.

According to province’s civil affairs bureau, three people died and two were missing.

China’s official Xinhua News Agency reported, “The storm was the hardest to hit the southern Fujian province since 1949.”

On Thursday, the typhoon strikes Xiamen at 3:05 a.m. local time. The storm led to strong winds and torrential rains.

Typhoon Meranti badly affected Jiangsu province of China on Thursday. The markets of China Hong Kong and Taiwan will remain closed.

According to China Meteorological Administration, The typhoon will weaken down on Friday while heavy rains are expected.
