An army jawan and two militants were killed in a gunfight in Bandipora in northern Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, as security forces battled another group holed up in a house in a nearby area.
A gunfight broke out early Friday when security forces surrounded an orchard in Naidkha area of Bandipora district, leaving a soldier of 13 Rashtriya Rifles and two militants dead, reports said.
This is the second such encounter in the area in two days.
Nearly two militants died on November 22 and two freshly minted Rs 2,000 notes were found in the pockets of terrorists. It was speculated that they belong to Lashkar-e-Taiba.
A joint operation was launched by army and police in Sopore district where two militants were found hising inside a house. On thursday, the gunfight started by the militants and terrorists.
