MANCHESTER: At least 19 people died and 50 others wounded in a terror attack that took place during a pop concert by US star Ariana Grande in the northwest English city of Manchester on Monday.
At the time of attack, the venue had a capacity of 21,000 and the people described the attack as a “huge bomb-like bang”.
Several ambulances reached to spot to look out the situation and bomb disposal teams were sent soon after the incident. Just after the incident, the train services in the area were also shut down.
“So far 19 people have been confirmed dead, with around 50 others injured. This is currently being treated as a terrorist incident until police know otherwise,” police stated.
British Prime Minister Theresa May criticized the “dreadful terrorist attack”.
“All our thoughts are with the victims and the families of those who have been affected,” she added.
The initial unproven reports of a bomb explosion come out after 2145 GMT on Monday.
Gary Walker from Leeds stated one of the leading TV channel that he was strike by shrapnel in his foot and his wife suffered stomach injury as they stayed for their daughters to come safely.
“We heard the last song go and then suddenly there was a massive flash and then a bang and smoke,” he added.
Manchester Arena stated the tragedy was held in the outer of venue.
Isabel Hodgins, an actress stated,”Everybody was panicking, there was pushing up the stairs.
“The corridor was full, it smelled of burning, there was quite a lot of smoke as we were leaving.”
“It’s just shocking and we just feel very shaken up. We’re just lucky to have gotten away safely,” she added.
Majid Khan, a localite stated, “An enormous bomb-like blast went off that gigantically terrified everybody and we were all attempting to escape the field”.
Calvin Welsford, 18 expressed, “It practically seemed like a discharge”.
“I glanced around and individuals were simply spilling down, taking off of the building”.
“I was really having an asthma assault. It was sheer frenzy,” he said.
