Nearly 13 killed in Baghdad bombings claimed by IS


Baghdad: Atleast 13 people had been killed in two bomb blasts that took place outside a shopping mall in central Baghdad on Saturday. It was speculated that the attack was done by IS.

An online statement on the attack was issued by the jihadist which stated that the explosion targeted Shias and was carried out by two Iraqi suicide bombers.  

During the attack, the bomber who carried out the explosives-rigged vehicle belongs from Fallujah.

Before midnight Friday, the blasts were carried out at multi storey Nakheel Mall on Palestine Street exploded the windows of the mall and smashed a fence surrounding it.

On Saturday, a private security organization guarding the shopping center tried to avoid pictures being taken, grabbing the cameras of two photographic artists and a video columnist.

A Video footage was shot by an AFP photographer was deleted by the firm.

On Monday, the shops will get open due to the Eid al-Adha festival which is on Monday.
