London: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif after an open heart surgery in London on Tuesday, is now improving and recovering fast, told PM’s daughter Marayam Nawaz Sharif. The prime minister underwent an open-heart surgery at a London’s hospital earlier this week and will be shifted to a room from the Intensive care Unit (ICU) on doctors’ advice.
She said by the grace of Almighty Allah, the Prime Minister is recovering rapidly and thanked the people of Pakistan for their good wishes for the prime minister.
Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Abdullah Marzouq Al Zahrani met Maryam Nawaz and inquired about the PM’s health and prayed for his early recovery.
While on the international front, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, and British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond too expressed best wishes for Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s successful operation and speedy recovery.
Last week, Nawaz Sharif went to London for medical treatment, for the second time since April, as political controversy brewed over revelations that his family had amassed wealth offshore.
Opposition politicians have pressed Nawaz Sharif to resign or step down until an inquiry into the accusations clears his name.
