New Delhi: Navjot Singh Sidhu has floated his own political front ahead of the Assembly elections in Punjab, according to reports. The move may hit Aam Aadmi Party’s chances in the Assembly elections next year badly. Reports said that Sidhu has floated his own party along with Parghat Singh and Bains brothers.
Sidhu, who had stunned everyone by resigning from the Rajya Sabha on the opening day of the Monsoon Session on July 18,The new party has been named "Aawaaz-e-Punjab".
Meanwhile, news agency has quoted Sidhu's wife Navjot Kaur as saying that the new front will be against those working against Punjab. The announcement of the new party is as surprising as Sidhu's decision to quit Rajya Sabha.
Last month, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had said that Sidhu had not put any pre-conditions on joining the AAP and needed time to think over the issue.
Reports had said that Sidhu wanted the AAP to project him as the chief ministerial candidate; however the party was reluctant to do so.
