Navi Mumbai : Once again a case of suicide in Mumbai unfolded. Navi Mumbai based builder, Raj Kandhari, of the Swaraj Builders & Developers Group reportedly tried to commit suicide by shooting himself at his home today afternoon.The reson behind shooting himself is not clear. After the incidence he is in critical condition, He was rushed to MGM Hospital in Vashi.
The tragic news has shocked the builders associations in the satellite city. "This is very bad news, as Kandhari is young, dynamic and among the top developers. He is in his early 40's.Significantly Last year in October, another top builder, Suraj Parmar, had committed suicide in Thane, for which some local corporators are being accused of harassing him. We are all very saddened at what is happening,'' said Manohar Shroff, member of the Navi Mumbai chapter of MCHI (Maharashtra Chamber of Housing Industry).
The builder is survived by his mother, wife and two children. His wife Pooja and children, aged 13 and 17, were away at her mother's place in Junnar district. The Swaraj Group is over 15 years old in the realty market. They currently have over a dozen new building projects in various areas like Airoli, Ghansoli, Chembur, Panvel and Koparkhairane among others. Navi Mumbai police officials said that Kandhari shot himself with his own licensed weapon on the right side of his head.
A police official informed that Kandhari has left behind a short suicide note written in Hindi, which apparently sounds rather emotional and reflected the state of the mind that Kandhari was in during his his last few minutes. "Jeevan mein utaar-chadhav toh aate hee rehte hain. Inka saamna karna chahiye… (In life one usually comes across ups and downs. One has to face them),'' was one of the few lines written in the suicide note. However, no one in particular has been pointed at by the victim. Further police inquiry is on in this matter.
