Days ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s historic visit to Israel, the Israeli embassy in India posted a video on Twitter with Israeli citizens inviting PM Modi in Hindi.
PM Modi will go to Israel on a three-day visit starting July 4, becoming the first Indian prime minister to step on Israeli soil. The Foreign Ministry officially reported his visit on Wednesday evening.
Late on Wednesday night, the Israeli embassy posted a minute-long video in which different Israeli citizens in Jerusalem welcome PM Modi.
“Namaste Modi ji,” says one lady in the video, her hands folded. “Israel mein aapka swagat hai.” (Welcome to Israel).
Another says, “Bharat aur Israel ke sambandho mein vriddhi ho aur mazboot bane.” (I hope relations between India and Israel keep growing stronger.)
There’s even a rousing welcome in Hindi from the embassy’s New Delhi staff. Israel’s Ambassador to India, Daniel Carmon, closes the video with a similar message in both Hindi and Hebrew.
