Naidu condemns lynching of e-rickshaw driver


On Monday, Union Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu censured the lynching of an e-rickshaw driver in the national capital for attempting to prevent individuals from urinating out in the open and advancing Swachh Bharat.

Naidu also talk to Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik requesting strictest activity against the culprits of the wrongdoing.

“Sad that an e-rickshaw driver was beaten to death for stopping two people from urinating in public in Delhi. He was promoting Swachh Bharat,” Naidu said in a tweet.

The Urban Development Minister likewise said that he has addressed the Police Commissioner and requested “most grounded activity conceivable against the offenders”.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) pioneer’s comments came following 32-year-old driver Ravinder Kumar was lynched on Saturday by a gathering of 15 young people, including two purportedly from Delhi University, after he protested two of them urinating close to the GTB Nagar Metro station.

The youths used towels filled with stones to hit him, a friend of Kumar and an eye-witness said. None from the public watching the lynching came forward to help Kumar, who died on the spot.
