Mumbai: Ticket checker gets beaten by commuter after asking for fine


Mumbai: A ticket examiner was beaten up after he asked a commuter to show his ticket at the CST station on Saturday night. According to the ticker checker, Sujit Gupta, while checking tickets on platform 15 and 16, he came across the accused, Rishi Kumar Singh who refused to pay the fine stating that he is the Assistant Income Tax Commissioner.

Following this, an argument broke out between the two and Singh took out his footwear and started beating up Gupta."Singh said he did not have a ticket because he could not find a booking office towards platform number 18," said sources.

Soon after this, the head ticket examiner rushed to the spot and all of them were taken to Government Railway Police (GRP) station.Police Inspector at CST, GRP police station, P B Hiremat said, "We have registered an offense based on the complaint registered by the ticket examiners. We are checking the CCTV footage and other relevant details as a part of investigation after which a charge-sheet will be produced in court. No arrests have been made as yet."

The Government Railway Police have registered a case under section 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees) of the Indian Penal Code.
