Mumbai police arrested two chain snatcher


Mumbai: The Anti Chain Snatching unit of Kalyan zone on Friday claimed to have solved 13 cases of chain snatching with the arrest of two youth from Kalyan. The arrested both youth's father works in to Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation. The police have also recovered 274 gram gold from accused worth over Rs 7 lakh.

The accused- Aakash Kandare, 20 and Paresh Ghavri, 26- both are residents of Shankarrao chowck area in Kalyan. Dr Sanjay Shinde, Deputy Commissioner of Police, zone 3 of Thane police said, "The Anti Chain snatching team during naka bandi this week nabbed Aakash over his suspect movement and when grill him he confess his involvement in to several chain snatching with his friend Prakash".

The team later headed by police inspector B G Roham and PSI Avinash Palde raided Prakash house and arrested him. The arrested both are alleged chain snatchers and has admitted to have committed 13 incidents of chain snatching in Kalyan area.

The duo was produced in court and was remanded to police custody for three days. Inspector Roham said accused for the first time has been arrested by police for their involvement in crime.
