Mumbai: Man jumps in front of Metro, 1st suicide reported


Mumbai: For the first time a case of suicide has been reported on Metro after the function commenced. A 20-year-old man jumped in front of an arriving Metro at Sakinaka station on Sunday.

The incident occurred at around 9.55am when the deceased Udaykumar Prasad, a Bihar resident, standing at the Sakinaka Metro jumped in front of the Metro.

The Metro services came to halt for some time before the services restored partially at 11am. A few commuters and the Metro staffers present at the Metro monitoring the commuters did not get reaction time who witnessed the incident. “Prasad hailed from Shripurihari Madhubani locality. 

The reason is unknown. Police team is at the spot," said Sakinaka police senior inspector Avinash Dharmadikari. Prasad jumped in front of the arriving Metro which was coming from Versova to Ghatkopar. Police are trying to get detailed antecedents of the deceased.
