Heavy rains hit Mumbai and several other areas leading to the situation of water logging in low-lying areas. Due to heavy rainfall, the rail and flight services got badly affected in the region.
On the Harbour line, the local trains delayed by 15 to 20 minutes. On the other hand, the trains on Central and Western lines are running timely.
As per the reports, several areas including suburban Dadar, Sion, Matunga, and Andheri faced the situation of waterlogging on Sunday because of the continual showers. This caused chaos on the roads of Mumbai.
As per civic officials, the non-stop rain showers break down trees at 22 places in Mumbai. No casualty was noted yet.
The disaster management team is keeping a check on the matter.
“Civic body’s preparatory forces are in place to tackle any eventualities. There has been no significant water-logging and our machinery is keeping a close eye on the developments,” BMC Deputy Municipal Commissioner (General Administration) Sudhir Naik stated.
The city witnessed jam on Tuesday to ease road traffic, BEST authorities deflected buses on various routes, Mr Naik stated.
As per IMD, Mumbai and Konkan regions of Maharashtra faced heavy showers as South West monsoon increased in the state. While, Central Maharashtra is currently waiting for monsoon.
