Mumbai: A huge blast has reportedly occurred at a chemical factory in Dombivali, near Kalyan in Thane district in Greater Mumbai region. Three people were killed and at least 50 injured in an explosion at a chemical factory. As per reports, the blast occurred in a boiler of the chemical factory, following which a fire broke out. The factory is situated at MIDC Phase 2, some 50 kms from Mumbai CST.
Aditya Patwardhan, who works in a nearby company, said: “We all got scared…thought it was a bomb explosion…I was shocked to see that the window panes were broken and that the cracks appeared in walls.” Police said they sealed the area around the company where the blast took place.
More than five fire brigades engines reached the spot and trying to control the fire. The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals.
