Mumbai: 2 minor killed as water pipeline bursts


Mumbai: Today in the morning at about 10.30 am two minor killed following a 72 inch BMC water pipeline burst opposite Bandra Terminus. Civic sources has further conveyed that, at around 11.45 am 8-month-old Vighnesh Doiphode was affirmed brought dead at Bandra’s Bhabha hospital whereas 9-yr-old Priyanka Doiphode, who was taken to V N Desai Hospital died at around 11.50 am.

Together the children lived in a slum where the water pipeline is situated. One of the civic officials at the occurrence spot has also further added that, notices had been given earlier in the slums area to leave the spot but they carried on to staythere.

The BMC assistant municipal commissioner Alka Sasane of east ward told that there previously a high court ruling in place that 10 metres of area as well either side of the water pipeline should not be intruded upon.

Sasane also further conveyed that this being water major we had asked the inhabitants to leave the place earlier.

The locals in the area told that the water pressure was so high when the pipeline had burst that the children who were playing nearby, were instantly flown away.

They further added that, the mother and grandmother of the duo who were also present have undergone minor grievance.
