Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been chosen for the Padma Bhushan award for his great involvement in the cricket world. As per senior BCCI official, only one name is being selected by the Board for Padma Bhushan in year 2017.
“Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been nominated by the BCCI for the Padma Bhushan award. There was no doubt among the members that Dhoni has impeccable credentials. Two World titles (2011 50-over World Cup and 2007 World T20), nearly 10,000 runs, 90 Test matches. There is no one better than him, who could have been nominated,” a senior BCCI official affirmed.
In year 2017, the Board of Cricket Council of India has not submitted any other recommendation for the Padma awards.
MS Dhoni who is known for his helicopter shots clinched 9737 runs in 302 One Day International games, in addition, he scored 4876 runs in 90 Test games. As of now, the cricket champ has clinched 1212 runs from 78 T20 International matches.
The 36 yr old champ has scored 16 international hundreds and 100 international half-centuries.
He took 584 catches as a wicketkeeper 256 test matches, 285 ODIs, 43 T20 International games.
Earlier, MS Dhoni was honoured with Arjuna, Rajeev Gandhi Khel Ratna as well as Padma Shri award. Padma Bhushan award will made him 11th Indian cricketer to receive such a great honour.
Other players who have been given Padma Bhushan award involves Sachin Tendulkar, Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar, Rahul Dravid, Chandu Borde, Prof DB Deodhar, Col CK Nayudu, and Lala Amarnath.
