Delhi are expected to receive monsoon showers on Sunday evening, India Meteorological Department officials said.
On Thursday evening, Pre-monsoon showers lashed the city with 16 mm of rain. Showers are also expected on Saturday.
The city received 13 mm of rain between Thursday evening and Friday morning,. On Friday the maximum temperature was recorded at 36.6°C, normal for this time of the year.
The minimum temperature was 27.2°C, a degree below normal.
“Conditions are favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon in some more parts of East Rajasthan, remaining parts of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and most parts of Punjab and Haryana, entire Chandigarh & Delhi and some parts of West Rajasthan during next 48 hours,” a statement issued by the India Meteorological Department said on Friday evening.
Moreover, there were humidity on thursday in Delhi which was recorded at a maximum of 98%. On Saturday, the maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be 30°C and 23°C.
This year, the monsoon was slow in reaching Kerala, the first place in India that receives monsoon rains.
“This monsoon season rain will be above the normal range. North-western India, which includes Delhi are expected to get good rains after two years, long-range forecast said.
