Mirzapur: 17-year-old girl gang raped, burnt alive


VARANASI: A group of four people allegedly gang raped a girl aged around 17-year-old and later on burnt her alive in a village in Mirzapur district on Tuesday night. The police arrested two charged, while two others are on the run. They were reserved under areas 376, 302, 437 of IPC and POCSO Act. The police, in any case, informed that the episode of rape was not affirmed in the post mortem report.

As indicated by reports, the victim, an occupant of a town in Dehat Kotwali police headquarters in Mirzapur area, had gone to the field accessible to attend the nature’s call on Tuesday night. She was overpowered by four people and taken to an adjacent cottage. She was purportedly gang raped, and before leaving the place they set the hovel ablaze in which the young lady was singed to death.

Seeing the fire nearby villagers raced to the place and stifled the fire, however the young lady couldn’t be saved. The police came to there in the wake of getting data and sent the body for post mortem.

Dehat Kotwali inspector Pramod Yadav advised to the media over telephone that on the basis of the complaint made by the relatives of the victim a FIR was held up against four people under segments 376, 302 and 436 of IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. He said that two out of the four denounced recognized as Komal Kumar and Babu Nanadan Yadav were captured, while two others recognized as Mahendra Kumar and Sanjay Kumar were on the run. The occurrence of the rape was not affirmed in the post mortem reports, he said including that endeavors are on to catch the running away people.
