New Delhi: Luxury car maker Mercedes Benz launched its new SUV GLC on Thursday priced at Rs 50.7 lakh (Ex-showroom Pune). The new model is available in both diesel and petrol options. The GLC is luxury compact SUV and it will be competing against the Audi Q5 and BMW X3 in the market.
The GLC 220d, powered by a 2143 cc diesel engine, is priced at Rs 50.7 lakh, while the GLC 300 driven by a 1991 cc petrol engine is tagged at Rs 50.9 lakh (all prices ex-showroom Pune).
“The GLC is a key product that fills the gap between the GLA and the GLE luxury SUVs,” told Mercedes-Benz India MD and CEO Roland Folger. “We have seen a growing penchant for luxury SUVs amongst luxury car customers in India and the addition of the GLC is going to redefine the segment completely.”
The model is the fifth launch for the company which is slated to bring in 12 new products this year. The GLC becomes the sixth SUV in the company’s portfolio in India, which ranges from the GLA to the AMG G63 which are priced in the range of Rs 31 lakh and Rs 2 crore, respectively.
