Manipur: IED blast near State Museum, 3 injured


New Delhi: One child and two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were injured in a blast caused by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Imphal , the capital city of Manipur, on Friday. This is the second terrorist attack on the same day in the northeast region. An earlier attack took place in Assam a few hours before the Manipur incident.

The CRPF personal of the 109 Bn Echo Company was on daily routine Quick Reaction Team (QRT) guarding the Raj Bhavan when the blast happened.

Some cars parked near the blast site were damaged by the impact. Police sources said that no underground organisation has claimed responsibility.

A search operation was conducted around the blast site. No arrested has been made so far. Earlier today, a terrorist attack was reported in the northeast region as well. Fourteen people were killed and another 14 injured when a suspected National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) militant fired upon civilians in the Balajan Tiniali market of Assam.
