CHANDIGARH: Yoga has become integral part of everyone’s life as they help us to stay fit and healthy. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken initiative and urged people to embrace yoga for better physical and mental health.
Thousands of people on Tuesday in Chandigarh morning mark the second International Yoga Day.
Moreover, hundreds of thousands across the country began the day with yoga exercises.
30,000 yoga enthusiasts in Chandigarh's gathered in Capitol Complex to perform deep breathing and stretching exercises with PM Modi.
Modi alleged that the International Yoga Day had become a mass movement like no other in the world.
Last year the date was finalised and ‘June 21’ was declared as the International Day of Yoga.
Modi said, “Yoga was not a religious activity but it help to control the mind and maintain a healthy body for a healthy balance between the two.”
He further added Yoga help people to lead a disciplined life.
Modi later got down from the stage from where he addressed the gathering.
The yoga exercise was organised around 4 am on Tuesday at complex where people wear T-shirts and track-pants and yoga enthusiasts lined up to perform yoga.
Around 96,000 people registered themselves for the event. Of this, over 30,000 were picked, including 10,000 each from Chandigarh, Punjab and Haryana.
These included school and college students, youths, elderly, specially challenged, security personnel and yoga activists.
