Madurai: Speeding water tanker runs over man, killed


Madurai: On Tuesday in Madurai city a 33-year-old man on bike was run over by a water tanker, killed on spot. Police officials filed a case on the basis of complaint and further investigations are on. The occurrence took place on Koodalnagar Bridge.

The fatality was recognized as M Pandi, from Villapuram in Madurai city. The mishap took place at around 9 am when the fatality, a private corporation employee, was travelling on bike. A water tanker in the similar direction hit the bike.

Critically wounded, Pandi killed at time on spot. A police squad hurried to the spot and moved the body to Administration Rajaji Hospital for post mortem. The driver of the vehicle recognized as Sasikumar, fled from the spot.

A case was filed with traffic investigation wing, Tallakulam and the driver was afterward detained under the section IPC – 304 (a) – causing death by negligence.

K Nallamani, a resident of Tahsildar Nagar has also conveyed that, numerous water tankers are driven by teenagers without a license. Owners too, cheer it as they pay lesser amount. He further added that, the police should crack the one on such trucks.
