Ten people were killed in a fatal road mishap when a lorry rammed into a mini truck on Devas road in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain region early this morning. Among the ten killed four were women and three were children. More than 19 people were severely injured including the drivers of both the vehicles and were hospitalized to a nearby district hospital, and among the dead 4 people died on the spot where as six people succumbed with injuries fought for their lives on their way to hospital but unfortunately couldn’t make it.
It was reported that the accident took place early in the morning on Saturday when a pickup truck was on his way to Devas from Rajasthan. The deceased were reported to be going for some agricultural work in the nearby area. District Superintendent of Police (SP) Manohar Verma said, “The labourers were killed when the jeep carrying them collided with the truck coming from the opposite direction at Chandesara village”. Sub-Divisional Magistrate Kshitij Sharma reported that in the early hours of Saturday, 10 labourers were reported to have lost their lives Chandesara region of Rajasthan.
The SP said the deceased hailed from Banswara district in south Rajasthan and were on their way to Navgaon area of the district from the city to work when they met with the mishap. The lorry was carrying 25 people. The truck laden with soyabean was coming from Dewas district to Ujjain, Verma added. Police have registered a case and further investigations are on.
