Los Angeles : Nearly nine people wounded after a big white van plunges into a mob of people in Mid-Wilshire on Sunday, as per Los Angeles Fire Department.
The accident took place at around 3:47 p.m. on Saturday at 5088 W. Pico Boulevard close to The Fish Spot, a famous hotel in Los Angeles.
The incident occurred after a driver purportedly swings over to circumvent another vehicle, bound the control and hit the fence ahead of striking many pedestrians outside the restaurant, spectators at the spot asserted.
“He think that he took a red light and the cars in the other lane were passing by already,” stated Gustavo Peña, a eyewitness. “To circumvent it he made attempt to veer off the other way and, unluckily, went into the crowd.”
In the incident, nearly seven people wounded but officials finalized that there were nine patients.
One sufferer, a 44-year-old man, was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, the Department asserted.
Nearly three victims including 18-year-old woman, a 28-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man were taken to the hospital immediately as they were in a serious condition while four other victims were moved in fair condition, the Department added.
Later, the driver rushed from the spot following the accident and was detained in link with a hit-and-run case, as per Los Angeles Police Department.
During the collision, an off-duty Los Angeles firefighter was in the mob but did not suffered any injuries, authorities affirmed.
