At least 47 killed as flood hits China


At least 47 people were killed and 22 missing after floods hits central China’s Hunan Province and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Reports stated that, heavy rain that commenced on 22nd June in Hunan has killed 27 people with 8 of them still missing.

The resulting floods have forced the migration of more than 1.2 million people. More than 38,000 homes have distorted and around 880,000 hectares of harvesting and crops have damaged. In Dongting Lake the water heights and numerous main rivers have climb above the warning levels.

Nearly 160 million yuan ($23.5 million) has been sifted to disaster relief in Hunan. Rain estimated to decline in Hunan in the subsequently few days but heavy rain is predictable in some areas.

In Guangxi, 20 dead due to heavy rains and 14 are still missing. Nearly 20,000 houses are damaged. The disaster has imposed direct economic losses of about 4.6 billion yuan. Authorities have transfered 10 million yuan to the affected areas.
