Fabulous artist Lata Mangeshkar will be presented the "Bangabibhushan" grant by the West Bengal government in acknowledgment of her commitment to Bengali melodies, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said here on Saturday.
"Lata Mangeshkar has sung countless Bengali tunes. With a specific end goal to respect her commitment, we have chosen to present the Bangabibhushan grant to her this year," Ms Banerjee told media people at the state secretariat Nabanna.
She said she has officially addressed Lata ji who has consented to acknowledge the grant.
The main pastor said she would actually go to Mumbai and present the recompense to the vocalist at her habitation after the Durga Puja celebration. Ms Banerjee would be joined by music organization Saregama director Sanjiv Goenka.
The prior beneficiaries of the honor started in 2011 incorporate danseuse Amala Shankar, sarod maestro Amjad Ali Khan, prestigious vocalist Manna Dey, Aauthor Mahasweta Devi, footballer Sailen Manna, hockey Olympian Leslie Claudius, painter Jogen Chowdhury, writr Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay, producer Goutam Ghosh, Hindustani established music type Ajoy Chakraborty and previous Indian cricket skipper Sourav Ganguly.
