Mumbai: Dalit organizations have declared shutdown in Maharashtra on Wednesday to protest against the violence that triggered off against the Dalit society’s Shaurya Divas in Bhima Koregaon, Pune. If reports were to be believed, protesters stopped the train at Thane railway station in Maharashtra recently. In view of Koregaon violence, Section 144 has been imposed in Thane till January 4.
As per the reports, all the train services including local trains will be disrupted. With the closure of Maharashtra, arund 40 thousand buses will not run and Pune Highway will also be closed in the violence. In this regard, BR Ambedkar’s grandson Prakash Ambedkar has called for the Maharashtra shutdown to protest against the government’s failure to stop the violence.
63-year-old Prakash Ambedkar said that more than 250 Dalit organizations support this bandh. Security arrangements have been made in Maharashtra. Section 144 has been imposed in several areas. Prakash Ambedkar has blamed 3 leaders for inciting Monday’s violence. One man was killed in this violence.
Maharashtra’s CM Devendra Fadnavis has said that he will go to Supreme Court for the judicial investigation of Koregaon violence. At the same time, Congress President Rahul Gandhi has tweeted on this issue and accused the BJP and RSS.
Over 100 people were arrested as strikers went on a run riot and cops had to be included in the issue.
