New Delhi : Kamaljeet Sehrawat has been chosen as the new mayor of the South Delhi municipal corporation (SDMC). The young leader was elected by councillors without any opposition as no members of other political parties had submitted nomination papers.
Her website said that she is the President of Mahila Morcha in Delhi since November 2014. She was likewise the state secretary of the gathering from August 2008 to November 2014.
Kamaljeet Sehrawat had scored a gigantic triumph in Dwarka-B ward. She had set another record by winning the surveys with a major distinction. 14,613 votes had been surveyed for Sehrawat. She vanquished Aam Aadmi Party’s Sushma Bansal in Dwarka-B ward.
In the mean time, Kailash Sankla has been picked unopposed as the appointee leader. Sankla had won from Punjabi Bagh.
Out of the aggregate 104 wards under the SDMC that had gone to surveys, the BJP won 70, the AAP 16 and the Congress 12. One ward each was won by the SP and the INLD, while four free hopefuls developed successfully. The BJP had packed away 181 of the 270 wards in the urban surveys. Delhi has an aggregate of 272 wards.
Out of the total 104 wards under the SDMC that had gone to polls, the BJP won 70, the AAP 16 and the Congress 12. One ward each was won by the SP and the INLD, while four independent candidates emerged victoriously. The BJP had bagged 181 of the 270 wards in the civic polls. Delhi has a total of 272 wards.
Kamaljeet will remain the mayor for a year.
