KKR defeated Kings XI by 7 runs


Kolkata: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) win by 7 runs against Kings XI Punjab on Wednesday in Kolkata. With the 6th victory in the 9th season of IPL, the Knight Riders have reached the number one spot in the score sheet.

Opting to bat first, Kolkata Knight Rider's opening duo of Gautam Gambhir and Robin Uthappa made a strong beginning.

Gambhir and Uthappa added 101 runs for the first wicket in 13.3 overs. Uthappa and Gambhir got out after scoring 70 runs and 54 runs respectively. Yusuf Pathan was not out at 19 runs. KKR scored 164 for three in 20 over's.

Chasing the target, Punjab lost the 1st three wickets for only 13 runs. Glenn Maxwell scored 68 in 42 balls with six boundaries and four sixes in his innings. Kolkata strengthened grip on the match after Maxwell was dismissed by Piyush Chawla.

Punjab needs 12 runs in the final over for victory, but the team could only make four runs in six balls.
